The hardest part of being an author is the isolation and not meeting people. Second to that is the dreaded writer's block; staring at a blank screen and not being able to come up with anything - just to make a start. I would also add that getting the book out there for everyone to see is often quite difficult.
Can you give us a short synopsis of The Hippity Dippity Witch?
Eight year old, Jenny Connolly, skips school to visit her friends in an enchanted wood. When she arrives, it's a scene of total devastation. The creatures of the wood cower in terror. There is a cruel magic at hand here.
She goes by the name of Marigold Dimple, a feisty, ten year old witch from Elderwood. Marigold is a witch with a vengeance, determined to have her own way and create havoc wherever she goes. When Jenny and Marigold's paths collide, nothing will ever be the same again...
What inspired you to write this book?
I loved witches as a kid and many of my ideas come from the vivid imagination I had back then. There was a small hill in the field outside our house with a very tall tree on top; when I was very young I used to imagine that it was a witch's castle.
How many hours per day do you spend on writing?
Three to four hours sometimes more, I work part-time so I don't get the chance to write everyday.
Name your top five favourite books.
I'm a big fan of Beatrix Potter and J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter Series, I love J. R. Tolkien's series of "The Lord of the Rings" and lastly Kate Mosse's book "Labyrinth" and most books by John Connolly.
What are you working on now?
I'm working on the sequel to "The Hippity Dippity Witch" titled "Shiver Me Timbers".
