What’s the hardest part of being an author?
Probably having to wear so many hats. I'm self-published so I have to do everything myself. I don't mind because that way I know things will get done, but it sometimes eats away at my writing time.
Can you give us a short synopsis of Cross Roads?
Being sixteen, homeless and surviving on her wits has made Shawna's life more than challenging. Now she is also the target of the Doma, creatures who appear human, and is on the run. She has never bothered anyone and makes it a point to stay in the background. So why are they trying to kill her?
After barely escaping with her life, Shawna must ally herself with an agent from the only group capable of stopping them and keeping her alive: The Acolytes.
They relocate to a small, rural town and Shawna begins her intense training to join the covert group. She also manages to find friendship and gains the attention of a charming and handsome young man.
Things seem to be going great for once until her new life is interrupted and she is forced to put her training to the test.
Shawna's world will never be the same again … if she can survive.
What inspired you to write this book?
The positive & strong women in my life. I've been fortunate to have many good people in my life so I wanted to write a story that featured a strong female lead.
How many hours per day do you spend writing?
I don't have a set time to write. I have to feel it. Some days I may write for an hour or two, while other days I may write from dawn to dusk and beyond.
Name your top five favourite books.
That it totally not a fair question – LOL! I'm an avid reader and my reading list has just tripled, but off the top of my head (and in no particular order) I'd have to say:
1. Over the Edge of the World by Laurence Bergreen
2. A Song of Ice and Fire (The Game of Thrones Series) by George RR Martin
3. The Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling
4. Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer
5. The Hobbit by JRR Tolkien
Yes, I know that actually includes more than 5 books, but they're all so awesome!
